About 1EdTech Standards

How the 1EdTech standards portfolio is developed, governed, and used by institutions and vendors worldwide.

About 1EdTech Standards

1EdTech standards are the open, royalty-free specifications that let the educational technology ecosystem interoperate. Institutions, suppliers, and learners benefit when course rosters, learning tools, analytics, and credentials all speak the same language — that is what this portfolio is for.

What you will find here

  • Specifications that vendors and institutions implement to certify interoperability
  • Guides describing how to adopt and operate each standard
  • Conformance documents detailing how implementations are tested
  • Errata capturing corrections and clarifications applied between releases

How standards are developed

Every standard is authored by a Working Group of members from across the consortium. Drafts move through public review before they are ratified as Final, ensuring that each specification reflects real-world implementation experience.

Who uses these standards

K–12 districts, higher education institutions, content providers, assessment vendors, learning platform suppliers, and credentialing bodies all depend on this portfolio every day to move data safely and predictably across the systems learners actually use.
